Accounting
The phishing email got past the spam filter and the employee himself, but OS System Protection alerted him that something was wrong.

Midwest Bar Accounting is a Detroit-based firm with 35 employees. Like every accounting practice, it handles client financial records that would be devastating in the wrong hands.

What happened

An accountant named Roger received a phishing email impersonating DocuSign. He clicked the link, entered his credentials on a fake website, and keylogging malware attempted to install itself on his machine. OS System Protection blocked the malware immediately and alerted him that something was wrong.

How Dynamic Edge responded

Our team isolated the affected machine, scanned it for malware, reset all of the credentials involved, and verified that the rest of the network remained secure. No unauthorized downloads were detected and no client data left the building.

Security works best in intertwined layers. In this case, the phishing email got past the spam filter and the employee himself, but OS System Protection alerted him that something was wrong.

The lesson

Employee training and spam filtering matter, but neither one catches everything. Layered security solutions are what stop the attempts that make it through. Technical protections catch the threats that social engineering is designed to slip past.
